Software and Technology Recruitment for Vancouver, British Columbia
Vancouver sales recruiters serving BC high-technology companies
Up until recent years the tech field in Vancouver and British Columbia had seen a number of very sound successes, strong growth, and a general expansion of the workforce involved in the space. There still was a good deal of work to be done though to reach a somewhat similar status to its neighbors to the south.
Recently, however, there has been a marked shift – one that is primarily characterized by a sharp increase in available capital and the full participation of those involved in distributing it to areas such as British Columbia and Western Canada. A number of incubators and accelerators have sprung up in the region, and increased, focused public sector assistance has helped to form a more comprehensive approach to the evolution and growth of the Vancouver technology ecosystem.
Rapid workforce expansion and a corresponding number of available positions
The number of high-tech jobs that have been generated in Vancouver over the past couple of years ranks amongst the top 5 in North America. There also has been a parallel increase in the pool of professionals with the skills to perform exceptionally well in these roles. Much of this is due to the efforts of colleges and universities, government programs, and corporate contributions aimed at attracting and developing a highly adept group of potential employees.
Industries leading the current buildout
A number of companies operating in the Biotech, Fintech, Martech, Legaltech, Gaming, Agtech, Cleantech, and Analytics sectors have received venture funding in the $100+ million range. Total capital infusion amounts for Vancouver over the past couple of years have surpassed the $1 Billion per quarter level – a mark that eclipses previous records for the BC region. Quarter 3 of 2022 came in just short of $100 million, a figure that stayed in line with declines seen since the record setting amounts collected in Q2 of 2021. Deal numbers also saw a corresponding decline as many wait out a period of uncertainty that will undoubtedly ease up given the vast amounts of stockpiled cash that will have to be put into play at some point.
– The 1st half of 2023 saw British Columbia companies take in a bit over $700 million, a figure which is about the same generated during the same period in 2022. The general trend, however, does seem to have leveled off from the downward swing that began in late 2021 thus it would appear reasonable that this may very well continue during the next few quarters.
The attraction of Vancouver
The aforementioned workforce that is already in place has been a huge factor for many companies in making the decision to move to British Columbia. Additionally, the city’s nearness to other economic hubs on the West Coast also has been stated as a primary consideration for a number of organizations.
For those seeking an outdoor lifestyle it would be hard to go wrong with a move here. Skiing, hiking, boating, and countless other activities are readily found. The climate is also quite temperate given the area’s nearness to the ocean thus, even though it certainly rains a fair amount during certain months, ready access is definitely not a problem.
